A certification's Valid / Expiring / Expired / No date status is calculated fresh every time it's displayed, by comparing the Expires date to today. "Expired" specifically means the Expires date on file is in the past — renewing the physical card doesn't change anything in FieldCred until that date is updated here too.
Fix it
- Open the worker's profile → Edit profile.
- Find the certification and update Expires to the new date (and Earned, if you're tracking that too).
- Click Save profile.
Common mix-ups
- Forgot to click Save profile — the edit form doesn't autosave; changes only persist after Save.
- Left Expires blank instead of updating it — a blank date is treated as its own status, missing, not "valid." It won't clear an expired reading, and it's not the same as being current.
- Used the OCR scan and didn't double-check it — the auto-fill from a photo scan is beta and can occasionally misread a digit. If you used Scanning a certificate photo to auto-fill dates, glance at the physical card to confirm the date landed correctly.
Renewing also clears an existing verification.
If this certification was already marked Verified, that badge isn't automatically preserved when you update the card number — see What "Verified" actually means for why, and re-verify against the new card if needed.
